Hey guys!  My name is Steven Mercer and I am absolutely pumped about being the head coach of the Rockville Rays for the 2010 season!  I’ve been swimming with Woodley Gardens ever since I was eight, and have been coaching since I was fourteen.  Apart from swimming with Woodley all the way till graduation, I have been swimming with RMSC since I was twelve and still swim with them today.  Now I swim with my college swim team, York College of Pennsylvania, and have come back for summer break to come coach for the Rays!  With a background of coaching for Woodley and swim instructing with RMSC, as well as the help of my assistant coach, Cara, I am looking forward to a great year of working with the Rays this summer.  I am ready and prepared to make sure that this summer of Rockville Rays will be not only be a successful and eventful season, but a fun filled season as well.  I can’t wait for the good times that I know we as a team will be having this summer for Rockville.  Let’s go Rays!

Hi there! My name is Cara Chuang and I am as excited as I am honored to be serving as the Rockville Rays’ assistant coach for the 2010 season! I’ve been with the Rays since 2001 and am highly distraught that this will be my last summer swimming with them. Equipped with guidance from my sister, who was head coach last year, and my experience teaching swim lessons, I look forward to working with the Rays toward a summer full of new experiences and fun. As for my credentials, I competed in the 2008 Swimming Olympic Trials and I currently hold MCSL records in the100m backstroke and 100m IM for the 15–18 age group, as well as in the 50m backstroke for the 13–1 4 age group. Although being a good swimmer does not necessarily mean that I will be a good coach, I plan to work my hardest for the interests of the team. Thank you so much for giving me this chance! I can’t wait for all the awesome memories I’m sure this summer will bring for Rockville. GO RAYS!
